Vietnam is located in Southeast Asia, the total national land area is 329,314 km2 and about 3,200 km long the sea. In recent years, Vietnam urban development has been changed a lot in both quantity and quality. The number of cities and towns increased from 629 in urban areas (1999) to 762 (2012), urbanization rate increased from 29.6% (1999) to 31.5% (2011). There are 02 grade cities that are Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh; 12 cities of the first class; 10 cities of the second class; 51 cities and Towns of thirst class; 55 towns of the
fourth class and 632 small towns of the fifth class;
